I put it in quotes because I've never trained for anything physical in my life. But I'm enjoying it. The trainers at the Chesapeake Boathouse gym are very helpful, and there are enough of them that someone is always available. I've rowed in dragon boats, and in an eight-person boat before, but never for an indoor challenge. So far, I've rowed over 10,000 meters on an erg machine. That sounds like a lot, until you remember that a meter is only about three feet. Oh well, it's still an impressive number for me. I've also been doing strength training for my core. Since I'm new to this, one of the trainers told me that my core is actually just my mid-section. But the word core sounds so much cooler.
